2009 a Year to Remember
In March, Jolli started a campaign with Patty Crowley under whose expert handling, I am very proud to say that Jolli finished the year as the #13 Vizsla of the country. Not bad for a 6 months push. In 2010, I plan for Jolli to be active in both the show ring and the field, working on attaining his Senior Hunter. Jolli is available at stud to approved bitches. Please check out his credentials on his page. (photo by David Margolin)
In late 2008 we started to show puppies from both the “Nut” and the “Muppet” litters. In 2009, three of these Suzu puppies earned their US Championship and 2 earned their Canadian title. In addition, Both Sisi (US & CAN CH Suzu N Aristotle’s Sisi JH) and Sila (US&CAN CH Suzu’s Gem Crystal Clear Jasper) finished their Canadian titles as well. To wrap up the year, Grover (US/CAN CH Suzu N Starcastle’s St. Elmo’s Fire) and Cookie (CH Suzu’s C is for Cookie) finished their Championships from the bred-by class with Carol Rappaport handling them, and thanks to Patty Crowley, Hardy (US/CAN CH Suzu’s Hard Nut to Crack) finished his Championship from the open class. Majors were hard to come by last year, but on the last day of the competitive season, Jello (Suzu’s Star Frangelico) was awarded her first major. What a way to close out the year.
Looking ahead, to 2010 we have several more Suzu’s who are going to be shown and several others who are going to be very busy in the hunting and field trail venues. Let’s hope that 2010 can be just as successful as 2009 if not better! So yes, I can’t complain, it’s been a very good year. CH Suzu's C is for Cookie (below)

Suzu Introduces Briar Vizslas: Does Sila Have Little Buns in the Oven
I am very excited to announce that Sila (US/CAN CH Suzu’s Gem Crystal Clear Jasper CGC) has just been bred to Tayto (CH Szikra’s Comfort Food). By my calculations, puppies are expected mid March. Congratulations to Crystal on the upcoming litter.
Sila finished her CH very quickly with 4 majors and then took Canada by storm last summer finishing her Canadian CH and then taking a Group 3 under Ed Bivin. Tayto finished his CH under the Bred-by class at Nationals in 2008.
If you or any of your friends has fallen in love with your Suzu and would like one, please contact Crystal at Briar Vizslas. The pedigree is on her website. Briarvizslas.com Crystal is taking names and preparing to interview puppy buyers.

Hazel debuts as a Veteran! Hazel (CH Deep End's Hazel Mogyi JH CGC, Therapy and Service Dog) is now 7½ and eligible to be shown as a veteran at specialty shows. I am showing her myself and have trouble keeping up with her with her “look at me” attitude in the ring. The only thing that Hazel loves more than showing is having puppies. Keeping her weight down is quite a chore. She is the definition for the “Bottomless Pit”. If she is not down in the pen when I’m away, I can be sure that she will find something to steel with only the package on the floor as evidence. She doesn’t even have a guilty look even if there are telltale crumbs around her face.
At the specialty weekend I showed Hazel on Thursday and she knew that she was back! Then on Friday after the sweeps, I started to have a problem with my eye and Patty showed her for me the rest of the weekend. Sunday, Hazel won the veteran bitch class and I took her in to the best of breed ring where Patty finished her. They made a great pair! I look forward to showing Hazel at the next specialties.

US & CAN CH Suzu N Aristotle's Sisi JH
Suzu is planning to breed Sisi for the second time later in Spring. If you are interested in getting another puppy, or if you have a friend who would be interested, please let me know as soon as possible. I am taking names for a short wait list. Sisi (US/CAN CH Suzu N Aristotle’s Sisi JH CGC) will be bred to Lewis (BISS CH Annian’s Great Explorer JH) the #3 Vizsla of 2009 and the #1 male Vizsla in the country. We think that this breeding will give us some very nice looking puppies with great temperaments. Check out Lewis' page for more about this amazing fellow.
At Westminster I had a chance to really get to know Sue Towne and her family who were up to cheer Lewis on to victory. But, alas, it was not meant to be. We all did have a great time anyway and look forward to the breeding. Lewis is a real handsome, Southern gent, who with Sisi should make some very nice pups!

New CH Hardy with Patty Crowley
Hardy (AM/CAN CH Suzu's Hard Nut to Crack) finished his US Championship in December 2009 in Bethlehem, PA. Hardy was expertly shown by Patty Crowley and will be starting is specials career in 2010.
OFA: Recently, I requested for all my puppies, 2 years and older, to get OFA Certified to show that their hips have no Hip Dysplasia. My goal is that all puppies get x-rayed. If only the puppies that are in the breeding program get tested, that gives me a very narrow picture of how healthy all of the hips are. So please if you have a Suzu puppy, get her/him x-rayed and submit the x-rays to the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of Animals.) I do have a couple of good Vets who will do the x-rays for a reasonable price. Call me for the information. If enough of you contact me, I’ll try and make arrangements to take a group of the puppies there for the x-rays or we can meet there.
After you get the results from the OFA, then let me know for my database.
